Singing as the Darkness Lifts

  A PEDESTRIAN WALK AND A ‘P’     Listening Link This morning the air brings me the smell of trees. It could be fallen leaves or sycamore scent. I say it is a photo which makes a nice addition to my #ElasticBandPhotos collection, and that it was taken on a blustery afternoon this week.   The photo brought me joy at the end of a walk that had become rather pedestrian and consequently was one that I wasn’t really enjoying. I had been feeling ‘under the weather’ and went for the walk because I thought I should . I think I spent almost the entire 45 minutes thinking about the hot chocolate I was going to have when I got home. CATERPILLAR OR SHOELACE      This morning the air brings a rather disconcerting scent of fish, a pale blue and pink sunrise shades the sky and a bird I cannot name sounds in the distance.   Alt text says this week’s photo is a close up of a caterpillar. I say it is two photos side by side, one showing a close up of a caterpillar, and one showing a close up of a section of discarded shoelace which resembles a caterpillar. No elephant hawk moth caterpillars have been observed this year in my garden, and I am rather hoping they have been quietly going about their business in the fuchsia bush without me noticing them. I don’t want to think that there haven’t been any. My camera reel shows me that late September is about the latest that I have seen them so I guess for this year I shall resign myself to the fact there will be no new sightings. A SWISH, A GALLOP AND TWO LOOSE SCREWS     PodBean Listening Link  This morning I cannot detect a specific scent in the air, and alt text is not offering me any suggestions for the photograph associated with this blog! This seems to reflect the fact I was late getting up after a weekend away at a yarn show, and my gears are not yet fully oiled and cranking.   To describe this week’s photo I would say it is Kath in her pompom crown ready for day one at Yarndale. She is in a selfie with me, and I am ready to look after the stand so she can go and teach during the weekend. Also in the picture we have a beautiful alpaca who definitely seemed to be posing for a photo early one morning when I went to ask how its day had started.   I love the fact that a yarn show for me is a wonderful blend of work and curiosity and playfulness. GLANCES, GLIMPSES AND OBSERVATIONS     PodBean Listening Link      This morning the air brings me the tint of caramel. The soft pudding kind. I look around for any clues for where this might be coming from, but my early morning eyes do not determine anything in particular that could account for such a scent. MARGARINE TUBS OF MARBLES AND ERASERS  PodBean Listening Link This morning the air brings a sense of cleanliness and has no particular scent that I can determine. A gentle chatter of birds sounds from the aerials and chimney pots. I get the sense the day started a while ago for them.   Alt text says this week’s photo is a glass jar with a blue ball on top. I say it is a glass jar with three marbles inside and that a large blue marble is placed on top to act as a stopper.   The grass has sprung back into shape after plenty of rain and it seems strange to be needing to be cutting it after weeks of watching it turn yellow (and rather crispy) and not need much attention. Pleasingly its flourishing green renewal has renewed my energy for gardening, and I have thoroughly enjoyed being out in the fresh air.    JUST START AND KEEP GOING   Listening Link    This morning the air is fresh after the rain, the sky is blurred grey and the magpies are sounding their rattles in the trees. I think I can smell horse chestnut leaves; I call it autumnal. BETTER TO BE BORN LUCKY THAN RICH  PodBean Listening Link   This morning the air brings gentle hints of autumn. It holds coolness and damp. The seasons are shifting.   Alt text says this week’s photo is a person standing in front of a display of knitted clothes. I say it is, and that it is me in front of some of Kath’s designs at Wonderwool Wales. I also say that alt text missed the fact that I am wearing my Dolly Parton t-shirt. This is an older photo, but one which seems suited to this blog. The title for this blog, better to be born lucky than rich , is one of my nan’s sayings. And whenever it rings in my ears it brings a smile to my face. Luck has given me things that I could never buy. And that t-shirt has led to many conversations with a whole host of good people.
